Camporee Scoring

The scoring system is designed to be fair and competitive so that the awards have meaning and value to the boys.

The boys are scored as a patrol unit in 2 areas: event performance and scout spirit.  Do create fairness the patrols are each given a designation of junior, intermediate and senior.  The patrol designation is based on the average rank of the boys in the patrol.  Any given patrol only competes against other patrols within the same designation.  This creates a fair scoring system in that it accommodates for the difference in skill levels between younger and older scouts.

The scoring system presents master, superior and proficient event awards for each patrol designation; 1st, 2nd and 3rd place scout spirit awards; 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall troop; and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place campsite awards.

The award assignments for scout spirit, overall troop, and campsite are based on the highest raw scores.  The event awards, however, are more complex in an effort to create fairness.  The master and superior awards are based on the highest raw scores with an absolute scale for each patrol designation.  The proficient awards are calculated using the highest raw scores below the minimum score for the superior award.
