The Sammamish Stampede is an event-wide relay race. All Patrols assemble on the field and attempt the challenge at the same time.
Each Patrol lines up on one side of the field facing a Judge (from among the adults) on the opposite side, one Judge per Patrol. When the race begins, the first Scout in each Patrol line runs across to his Judge to receive a challenge. Each Judge has an identical list of questions and skill challenges that will are revealed to Patrol members once they have run across to discover the next question. If a Scout cannot answer a question (such as "What do the two stars on the Scout badge mean?") or complete the skill (such as tying a square knot) he must run back to his Patrol to send the next Scout in line back to attempt the challenge.
A Scout is allowed to reveal the challenge to his Patrol. The patrol may discuss the solution before sending the next Scout across. Patrols are allowed to consult their Scout Handbook to look up the solution but may not bring it with them to the Judge.
After three failed attempts a Judge may hint at the answer but should not give it away. After six failed attempts the Patrol may "scratch" the item and move on to the next.
This event is for fun and team-building and does not add towards the Event Skill award. As each Patrol finishes the final challenge they run to the Goodies Table and pick up their reward. This will be some fun thing or another with three levels of "awesomeness" such that finishing early will yield better swag, but all will win something.
